Sussex seal victory as Nottinghamshire falter in title defence

Nottinghamshire suffered a seven-wicket defeat that leaves them needing favours from elsewhere in the final round of the County Championship. The champions now trail Warwickshire and face a must-win situation at Trent Bridge next week.

The result keeps Warwickshire on course for their first title since 2012, while Sussex strengthened their mid-table position. Nottinghamshire's title defence has unravelled after a promising start to the season.

The final round begins on Thursday, with Warwickshire facing Hampshire and Somerset taking on Surrey.
