Tahir says age does not define his CPL ambitions

Imran Tahir dismissed talk of age as he prepares Guyana Amazon Warriors for the CPL playoffs.

Imran Tahir said he is reminded daily that he is one of the oldest players in world cricket but remains focused on winning a second Caribbean Premier League title with Guyana Amazon Warriors. The 43-year-old leg-spinner is leading the Warriors in CPL 2026 and has taken 12 wickets in eight matches so far. Guyana are chasing their second title after winning in 2023.

Tahir said the reminders about his age come from fans and opponents alike. He has played in every edition of the CPL since its inception in 2013. The South African has also represented multiple franchises across T20 leagues worldwide.

Guyana topped the league stage and will face Barbados Royals in the qualifier on Friday. Tahir said the squad's experience gives them an edge in knockout matches.
