Thomas Rew named England Lions T20 captain for West Indies tour
Thomas Rew will lead the England Lions T20 squad for their three-match tour against West Indies A in St Kitts and Nevis. The Somerset wicketkeeper-batter, still only 18, is poised to become the youngest man to skipper the side when the games begin in November.
He collected his first England developmental contract and a senior squad call-up for the Australia T20 series within days of the Lions job. Jonathan Trott now oversees the Lions’ winter plans following Andrew Flintoff’s exit. After the T20 matches, the side will contest five one-day internationals against the same opposition, with Dan Lawrence as captain.
Earlier in 2024, Rew guided England Under-19s to the World Cup final and struck his first two first-class hundreds for Somerset this summer.
