Tilak Varma named India A captain for November tournament

Tilak Varma was named captain of the India A squad for the tournament scheduled from November 19 to 29. Rajat Patidar will serve as vice-captain.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has scored 564 runs in 13 List A matches at an average of 43.38, including 190 off 84 balls against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kris Srikkanth said the Indian management was creating an insecure atmosphere by benching the 15-year-old without clear explanation.

Srikkanth called on selectors to give Sooryavanshi a sustained opportunity in the T20I side rather than repeated omissions. He believes dropping the teenager this early sends the wrong message to young players and stops India from settling on a settled top order before the next major tournament.
