Vaibhav Sooryavanshi included in India XI for Asian Games semi-final
Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi replaced Sanju Samson in India's playing XI for the Asian Games semi-final against Sri Lanka.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was named in India's playing XI for the men's cricket Asian Games semi-final against Sri Lanka on Thursday. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. Sooryavanshi replaced Sanju Samson in the side, while Jasprit Bumrah returned after missing the Japan T20I.
India's full-strength squad features Shreyas Iyer as captain and includes Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan as openers. Sri Lanka fielded a second-string side captained by Sahan Arachchige. The match began at 10:00 AM IST after earlier rain concerns.
Pakistan earlier defeated Bangladesh by six wickets in the first semi-final to qualify for the gold-medal match. The winner of India versus Sri Lanka will face Pakistan on Saturday.
