Vaibhav Sooryavanshi named Bihar captain for first two SMAT matches

Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will captain Bihar for the first two Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been named Bihar captain for the first two Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches. The 15-year-old will lead the side against Saurashtra and Railways. Suraj Kashyap has been appointed Bihar's vice-captain for the tournament.

Sooryavanshi's appointment comes after his recent performances drew attention to his possible future responsibilities. He has played only eight red-ball matches so far. The decision places significant leadership duties on a player still early in his career.

Bihar officials have not commented on how long the captaincy arrangement will last. The SMAT provides Sooryavanshi with an opportunity to gain experience in a senior domestic competition.
