Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made 38 off 21 before India slipped to 58 for two against Sri Lanka in the Asian Games semifinal. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi struck 38 off 21 balls before falling in the Asian Games men's cricket semifinal against Sri Lanka at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on Thursday. India reached 58 for two after losing Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson inside the first 10 overs. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first.
Sooryavanshi replaced Sanju Samson in the playing XI after the wicketkeeper-batter was omitted from the starting lineup. Jasprit Bumrah returned to the side after missing the warm-up match against Japan. The match began under clear skies following multiple rain washouts that forced all four quarterfinals to be abandoned.
Pakistan earlier defeated Bangladesh by six wickets in the first semifinal to reach the gold-medal match. The winner of India versus Sri Lanka will face Pakistan on Saturday for the gold medal.
