Vaibhav Sooryavanshi claimed two wickets in four balls as East Zone beat North East Zone by an innings and 210 runs in their Duleep Trophy quarter-final.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took two wickets in four balls during East Zone’s Duleep Trophy quarter-final against North East Zone in Bengaluru. The 15-year-old left-arm orthodox bowler dismissed Kishan Lyngdoh and Imliwati Lemtur in successive deliveries before finishing with figures of two for 11 from three overs.
Sooryavanshi had earlier scored eight runs from six balls in East Zone’s first innings before being dismissed by North East Zone pacer Bishworjit Konthoujam. East Zone reached 355 for six, with centuries from Sudip Kumar Gharami and Shahbaz Ahmed, before bowling North East Zone out for 111 and 146 to win by an innings and 210 runs and reach the semi-finals.
Rahul Dravid urged patience with the teenager after the match. Sooryavanshi has already scored 193 runs in six T20I innings at a strike rate of 189.21.
