India defeated Pakistan by 19 runs to win the men's cricket gold at the Asian Games 2026 in Nisshin on Saturday. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi touched ICC chairman Jay Shah's feet during post-match congratulations, a moment that went viral on social media. Shah presented the gold medals to the Indian team.

India posted 211 for six in their 20 overs, led by Abhishek Sharma's 61 and Tilak Varma's unbeaten 51. Pakistan replied with 192 for six, with Hasan Nawaz scoring 96 off 51 balls. Shreyas Iyer captained the Indian side.

Both Indian teams won gold at the tournament. Shah said the event in Japan had written a proud new chapter in cricket's history.
