Kohli confirms 2027 ODI World Cup as his last for India

Kohli declared the 2027 World Cup his last and said he is ready to give everything to win the title one more time.

Virat Kohli confirmed that the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will be his last for India. The 37-year-old, who plays only the 50-over format after retiring from Tests and T20Is, said the tournament is his motivation to leave everything on the field. He added that the goal is to win the World Cup and that he is absolutely ready.

Kohli described the intensity of a 50-over World Cup as greater than anything else, noting that players must maintain T20-level intensity across ten games. He has scored 1,795 runs in 37 ODI World Cup matches at an average of 59.83, with five centuries and 12 fifties.

India begin preparations with the three-match ODI series against West Indies starting Sunday at Thiruvananthapuram. Kohli said the intensity required makes the tournament a big deal and that he wants to play a match-winning knock in the final as the ideal sign-off.
