Virat Kohli ruled out of Afghanistan ODIs with hamstring injury

Virat Kohli's hamstring injury from the IPL 2026 final has ruled him out of India's ODI series against Afghanistan, which starts June 13. The BCCI medical team ordered a minimum two-week rest immediately after the final, leaving him unavailable for all three matches.

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya's fitness remains up in the air. Ryan ten Doeschate, India's assistant coach, confirmed Kohli's status and squad details at a press conference on Thursday.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is in line to open in Kohli's place. The Afghanistan series doubles as a warmup for the T20 World Cup later this year.
