Virat Kohli surpasses Ponting ODI record despite low score

Virat Kohli broke Ricky Ponting's ODI record during India's second match against New Zealand in Wellington despite being dismissed for seven. Kohli turned 38 recently and maintains a strict diet, training and recovery routine. Discussions about his methods continue inside the Delhi dressing room as he prepares for another 50-over World Cup campaign in 2027. Abhishek Nayar has questioned whether Kohli will have enough matches to reach 100 international centuries before that tournament. Mohammed Shami finished his Test career with 229 wickets and continues in limited-overs cricket, with Ravi Shastri stating he deserved another Test opportunity.
