Wasim Jaffer questions Naman Dhir's ODI selection
Wasim Jaffer says Naman Dhir's List A numbers do not justify his ODI call-up and questions whether he is a Washington Sundar replacement.
Former India opener Wasim Jaffer has questioned Naman Dhir's inclusion in India's ODI squad for the upcoming series against the West Indies. Jaffer said Dhir's List A numbers have not been particularly impressive and wondered whether the selectors view him as a replacement for Washington Sundar.
Dhir has scored 351 runs in 14 List A matches at an average of 39.00 and a strike rate of 106.36, including four half-centuries. He has also claimed seven wickets. Jaffer noted that Dhir is a good T20 player and highlighted his 173-run knock in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League.
India play West Indies in a three-match ODI series beginning on September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram. The squad includes several players who will get opportunities while senior players are at the Asian Games.
