West Indies add Amir Jangoo as cover for injured Jewel Andrew
Amir Jangoo replaces injured Jewel Andrew in West Indies T20I squad after finger injury sustained in third ODI.
West Indies have added wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo to their T20I squad for the series in India after Jewel Andrew suffered a finger injury during the third ODI. Andrew sustained the blow while taking a catch off Naman Dhir and remains under assessment, with a fracture ruled out. The 19-year-old scored 239 runs across the three ODIs, third only to Shubman Gill and Shai Hope.
Jangoo, 29, has played seven T20Is since his debut in December 2024, scoring 163 runs at a strike rate of 120.74. He finished the ODI series with scores of 58 not out, 114 and 67. The first T20I begins in Lucknow on October 6.
Andrew’s injury forced Shai Hope up the order during the ODI chase of 352. Jangoo will provide cover behind the stumps and middle-order depth for the shortest format.
