West Indies name Shai Hope-led squads for India series

West Indies named Shai Hope as captain and included 19-year-old spinner Vitel Lawes in their squads for the upcoming India series.

West Indies have named Shai Hope to lead both the three-match ODI series and five-match T20I series against India. The ODI squad includes a surprise call-up for 19-year-old Jamaican left-arm wrist-spinner Vitel Lawes. The T20I squad brings in IPL-experienced players like Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell and Romario Shepherd.

Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seales will spearhead the pace attack across both formats. The ODI series starts September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram, then moves to Guwahati and New Chandigarh. The T20I leg begins October 6 in Lucknow, with further stops in Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli return to India's side after their Asian Games commitments.
