Why has BCCI standardised Bronco and 2K fitness tests after England tour?

BCCI introduces uniform fitness benchmarks after injury concerns and inconsistent testing standards during England tour.

The BCCI's Centre of Excellence has introduced standardised fitness parameters after frequent injury breakdowns during the white-ball tour of Ireland and England. The Bronco test now requires completion in 5.15-5.20 minutes, while the 2K running test has a 9-10 minute benchmark.

The changes follow concerns that customised fitness targets allowed senior players easier standards while Adrian Leroux replaced the Yo-Yo test with the Bronco assessment last year. Physio Kamlesh Jain was questioned over the dip in fitness standards and frequent cramping, even in favourable English conditions.

The CoE has also addressed weight concerns, telling Harshit Rana his weight cannot exceed 96 kilograms after he was cleared for the England tour at 97 kilograms despite recovering from a knee injury.
