Harry Brook says Will Jacks growing into new role after five-for
Brook praised Jacks for adapting to his middle-order and part-time spin role after a strong all-round display.
England captain Harry Brook said all-rounder Will Jacks is growing into his role after taking five wickets and scoring an unbeaten 46 in England's 89-run victory over Sri Lanka in the first ODI at Chester-le-Street on Tuesday. Jacks claimed career-best figures of five for 22 from seven overs, dismissing Charith Asalanka, Kusal Mendis, Dunith Wellalage, Asitha Fernando and Dilshan Madushanka. His figures are the best by an England spinner in an ODI since Vic Marks took five for 20 against New Zealand in 1984. Jacks had undergone emergency appendix surgery last month. England posted 265 all out, with Harry Brook top-scoring on 67. The second ODI is at Headingley on Thursday.
