Will O'Rourke ruled out of India series to manage calf and hamstring injuries
New Zealand fast bowler Will O'Rourke has been ruled out of the upcoming multi-format series against India as he continues rehabilitating injuries to his left hamstring and calf. The 25-year-old made his return to international cricket earlier this year after a back stress fracture kept him sidelined for seven months.
O'Rourke was set to feature in both the ODI and Test series against India but New Zealand coach Rob Walter said it was best for him to take more time to rehab both injuries. O'Rourke claimed seven wickets across three Tests at an average of 18.42 during New Zealand's 3-0 series victory in India in 2024.
New Zealand travel across the Tasman Sea to face Australia in a four-match Test series after India's tour. Walter said he is hopeful O'Rourke will be ready for the opening Test against Australia in Perth on December 9.
