Yorkshire's Richard Pyrah named Melbourne Stars WBBL coach

Yorkshire coach Richard Pyrah has been appointed head coach of Melbourne Stars in the Women's Big Bash League. He replaces Andy Christie, who moves to an assistant role within the same franchise.

Pyrah has worked with Yorkshire's women's team since 2021 and led the side to promotion in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy last season. Melbourne Stars finished seventh in the WBBL last year and have made no final appearances since 2021.

The appointment takes effect immediately ahead of the 2026-27 season, which begins in October. Pyrah will work with a squad that includes international players including Annabel Sutherland and Meg Lanning.
