Yuvraj Singh urges India to settle on 16-20 players a year before 2027 World Cup

Yuvraj Singh said India must finalise a core group of 16-20 players a year before the 2027 World Cup to build experience across positions.

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh said India should settle on a core pool of 16 to 20 players at least a year before the 2027 ODI World Cup to ensure experience in every position. The ICC released the full schedule for the tournament on Thursday, with exactly a year left before the competition begins in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. India open against Australia on October 7 in Cape Town and face Pakistan on October 10 in Johannesburg.

Yuvraj said the top order, middle order and numbers four, five and six all need game time before the tournament. He added that the team should arrive in South Africa a month early to prepare. Suresh Raina said India's current playing style and quality put them ahead of rivals Pakistan.

Raina said India have a quality team with bowlers capable of generating pace and bounce and handling pressure. He said it is time for India to win a third ODI World Cup title.
