Jammu and Kashmir won the toss and elected to field first against Rest of India on the opening day of the Irani Cup at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar. The defending Ranji Trophy champions named a side missing key seamer Auqib Nabi. Rest of India included Sarfaraz Khan and Shikhar Mohan in their playing XI.

Rest of India reached 38 for two at lunch with Sarfaraz Khan and Shikhar Mohan at the crease. Jammu and Kashmir fielded Umar Nazir Mir and Sunil Kumar as their frontline seamers. The match features several players from both sides who have represented India at various levels.

The fixture marks the first time Srinagar has hosted the Irani Cup. Jammu and Kashmir qualified for the match after winning their maiden Ranji Trophy title last season.

CricHubb Take

The absence of Auqib Nabi weakens Jammu and Kashmir's pace attack. Rest of India will look to exploit the inexperience in J&K's third seamer role during the opening exchanges.
