Shardul Thakur will miss Mumbai's Ranji Trophy match against Haryana as he continues to recover from a right middle finger fracture. The all-rounder sustained the injury during a training session ahead of the season's opening round.

Thakur last played competitive cricket in the Duleep Trophy quarter-final in late August, where he took one wicket in 14 overs. He has been training with the Mumbai squad and will take up commentary duties for India's T20I series in New Zealand.

Mumbai lead Elite Group D with 14 points from two matches. Captain Siddhesh Lad has scored 173 runs at an average of 86.5, while Tushar Deshpande has claimed 13 wickets.

CricHubb Take

Thakur's absence removes Mumbai's most experienced seam-bowling all-rounder at a stage when the side is managing multiple injuries. The team's success so far has come from depth in batting and Tushar Deshpande's early breakthroughs, but the lack of a third seamer who can bat means Mumbai are one injury away from an unbalanced XI. The timing of his return will determine whether they can maintain their position at the top of the group.
