Sunil Gavaskar said Mayank Yadav's dropped catch of Sherfane Rutherford proved costly in India's six-wicket defeat in the second T20I. Rutherford went on to score 84 off 37 balls in a 120-run stand with Shai Hope.

Gavaskar said the bowlers did not execute their plans after India posted 249 for five. Hope remained unbeaten on 102 off 45 balls as West Indies chased the target in 18.3 overs.

The defeat levelled the five-match series at 1-1. The third T20I will be played in Indore on Sunday.

A single missed catch turned a defendable total into a record chase, underlining how thin the margin for error has become in T20Is on small grounds.
