Rohit Sharma needs two runs to join Sachin Tendulkar in ODI openers club
Rohit Sharma is two runs away from joining an exclusive club of ODI openers. Gill also has his eyes on Babar Azam's series record.
Rohit Sharma needs just two runs in the third ODI against the West Indies to become only the second Indian and the fourth player overall to score 10,000 runs in ODIs as an opener. The veteran has already scored 101 in the second ODI and 110 in the first match of the series.
India have already secured the series 2-0 and will look to complete a whitewash at Mullanpur on Saturday. Shubman Gill has scored 333 runs across the first two matches including an unbeaten 223 in Guwahati. Rohit has also spoken about his focus on the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Gill needs 28 runs to break Babar Azam's record for the most runs in a three-match ODI series. The third ODI is a dead rubber but offers both players the chance to add to their records.

Rohit's milestone chase matters because it shows experience still counts when the series is already won.
