Shubman Gill will return to action for Punjab in the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season. The India Test and ODI captain is set to play Punjab's second-round match against Chhattisgarh starting on October 18. Gill missed Punjab's opening match against Assam, which Uday Saharan led.
Gill was named ICC Men's Player of the Month for a record fifth time following his ODI performances against the West Indies. He scored 110 in the first ODI in Thiruvananthapuram and then smashed 223 off 133 balls, recording the fastest double-century in ODI history.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the ODI squad for the New Zealand tour would be picked in the next two to three days. Gill will captain the first three ODIs before handing over to Shreyas Iyer for the final two.
