Gill says India have little time to experiment ahead of 2027 World Cup
Gill wants a settled ODI combination in place with less than a year until the 2027 World Cup.
India captain Shubman Gill said the side has limited time to experiment ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. He wants the combination that plays the next series to stay intact through the tournament.
Gill spoke after India lost the third ODI against the West Indies by five wickets despite posting 351. He criticised the team’s fielding, noting seven dropped catches across the series.
The captain also flagged death bowling as an area of concern. India will next play New Zealand in a five-match ODI series beginning November 4.

The next five ODIs against New Zealand will likely decide who gets the last two or three spots in the 2027 squad. Gill can’t afford another collapse like the one in the Caribbean.
