Shubman Gill questions India's powerplay bowling after series loss

Gill identified powerplay bowling as the key weakness and confirmed Jadeja was rested rather than dropped.

India captain Shubman Gill said poor powerplay bowling was the root cause of the team's five-wicket defeat in the third ODI against West Indies at New Chandigarh on Saturday. Gill flagged concerns in the fielding and death bowling departments after West Indies chased down 352.

Gill said he did not think Ravindra Jadeja was dropped from the playing XI and clarified that the team decided to rest the senior all-rounder to give other players game time. He said discussions with selectors would focus on which players could contribute more in World Cup conditions.

Gill also said debutants Auqib Nabi and Anshul Kamboj would have liked to do a better job but noted that few players deliver immediately in international cricket.
