Shamas replaces injured Alvi in Pakistan Asia Cup squad
Shamas has replaced the injured Alvi in Pakistan’s Asia Cup squad.
Pakistan have called up Shamas to replace Alvi, their injured seamer, for the Asia Cup. Alvi hurt his knee in a domestic match and is out for up to four weeks.
The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed the switch on Monday. Shamas was already on the reserves list and has joined the squad in the UAE.
Pakistan open against India on September 5. The board says it could still make more changes if fitness issues arise.

Pakistan now carry two frontline seamers who weren't in their original squad plans, so the bigger question is whether they'll stick with the same XI once Alvi returns — or if Shamas has already earned a longer stay.
