Chloe Tryon signed a one-year deal with the Melbourne Renegades, becoming their third overseas player for WBBL|12. The South Africa all-rounder has played for three previous clubs and returns after a modest 2024 season with Hobart Hurricanes.

Renegades coach Gavan Twining said Tryon's middle-order batting and left-arm spin add flexibility. She joins Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin in an overseas trio of all-rounders.

The Renegades have two list spots left, one tied to the end of the T20 Spring Challenge on October 21. They lost Alice Capsey, Charis Bekker, Emma de Broughe, Sarah Coyte, Davina Perrin and Issy Wong from last season's squad.

CricHubb Take

The open-market overseas system replaces the draft model, giving clubs more control but increasing the risk that depth will concentrate among teams with bigger budgets.
