Praveen Kumar, Ramesh Powar shortlisted for BCCI junior panel
Praveen Kumar and Ramesh Powar among 15 shortlisted for BCCI junior selection committee.
Former India pacers Praveen Kumar and Sudip Tyagi, along with former India spinner Ramesh Powar, are among 15 candidates shortlisted for the BCCI's junior men's selection committee. The candidates will appear for interviews on Tuesday at the board's headquarters in Mumbai.
The Cricket Advisory Committee led by Ashok Malhotra will conduct the interviews for the five-member panel. Powar is reportedly leading the race for chairman, though Praveen Kumar's greater international experience makes him a strong contender as well. The BCCI prefers candidates with more Test appearances for the chairman's role.
The junior selection committee will pick age-group teams up to Under-22 for coaching camps and fixtures against domestic and international opposition. The panel will also scout talent and promote ethical values among young cricketers.

The BCCI's preference for Test experience in the chairman's role could tilt the decision toward Praveen Kumar despite Powar's stronger domestic coaching record, creating an interesting test of the board's stated selection protocol.
