Sophie Molineux was sold for Rs 1.10 crore to UP Warriorz at the WPL 2027 auction in Kochi. Kiran Navgire went to Delhi Capitals Women for Rs 75 lakh. Twenty five players were sold for a total of Rs 6.25 crore, with teams holding a combined Rs 8.15 crore to spend.

UP Warriorz led the auction in terms of activity and finished with the strongest purse remaining at Rs 3.75 crore and ten players already in their squad. Delhi Capitals had Rs 1.1 crore left and thirteen players, while Gujarat Giants had Rs 1.25 crore and fifteen players. Royal Challengers Bengaluru held Rs 1.15 crore and thirteen players. Mumbai Indians could not add overseas players because they already had six in their squad.

The BCCI will hold brainstorming sessions from next year to consider increasing the number of WPL teams.

CricHubb Take

The auction spending pattern shows that teams with deeper purses are positioning themselves for a longer season structure, which suggests the board already sees expansion as the next logical step rather than a distant possibility.
