Yuzvendra Chahal reveals 26-day rehab stay after alcohol struggle
Yuzvendra Chahal reveals he spent 26 days in rehab after alcohol issues post-divorce.
Yuzvendra Chahal has disclosed that he spent 26 days in a rehabilitation centre after his alcohol consumption crossed limits following his divorce. The leg-spinner spoke about the period during a podcast with former India opener Aakash Chopra.
Chahal said the decision helped him regain emotional balance and physical conditioning, adding that his body felt like that of a 30-year-old during last season's IPL. He traced the start of his drinking habits to parties during his early IPL years in 2011 and recalled advice from AB de Villiers about maintaining balance.
Chahal, the IPL's highest wicket-taker with 233 scalps in 188 matches, has taken 121 wickets in 72 ODIs and 96 wickets in 80 T20Is but is yet to play a Test.

Chahal's willingness to speak publicly about the rehab stint may lower the stigma around mental-health support for current players who face similar pressures away from the field.
