Habibul Bashar denies interference in Bangladesh team selection

Habibul Bashar dismissed claims of interference, saying the selection panel acted independently for the West Indies Test.

Chief selector Habibul Bashar has rejected conspiracy theories about team selection for the first Test against West Indies. He told reporters the panel worked with complete independence and made only limited changes to the squad.

Bangladesh named Taskin Ahmed and Litton Das in the squad announced today. Litton missed the recent ODI tri-series due to injury but recovered in time for the Test. Soumya Sarkar and Syed Khaled Ahmed were left out after featuring in the Afghanistan Test. The series begins at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Bangladesh sit fourth in the World Test Championship standings after six matches. Bashar said the focus remains on consistency rather than setting expectations ahead of the two-match series.
