Sophie Molineux will miss Australia's three-match ODI series against Bangladesh starting October 9 in Brisbane due to a hip injury. Tahlia McGrath will captain the side, with Ashleigh Gardner as the other co-vice-captain available to lead if required. Molineux suffered the injury after returning from The Hundred and it did not progress as quickly as expected.

Lucy Hamilton is also unavailable for the ODIs with a minor quad strain, leaving Australia with 12 fit players in the squad. Darcie Brown has been ruled out of both the ODI and T20I series with a back injury sustained during Australia's A tour of India and could miss up to 10 weeks. McGrath led Australia in their most recent ODI series against West Indies in April when Molineux was sidelined with a back injury.

Molineux is expected to be available for the T20I series against New Zealand from October 18. Australia will add reinforcements once the current round of the Women's National Cricket League is completed.

CricHubb Take

Australia's injury list now stretches to three frontline players unavailable for the opening series, forcing the selectors to add reinforcements after the current WNCL round.
