Pakistan veterans withdraw from India-hosted over-50s World Cup
PCB blocks over-50s team's India trip despite organisers' visa and security assurances.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has refused permission for the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association to compete in the International Masters Cricket World Cup scheduled for India in January. The PCB cited the interior minister's directive against travel to India.
Pakistan won the previous edition in Sri Lanka. Fawad Ijaz, who heads the PVCA, said organisers had assured visas and security before the board blocked participation. The team has withdrawn so an alternate side can be arranged.
Pakistan and India play bilateral cricket only at neutral venues due to strained relations. The Pakistan Hockey Federation also withdrew from an event in India earlier this month.
