Zak Crawley signs Kent extension after losing England contract

Zak Crawley extended his Kent contract after the ECB removed him from the central contract list.

Zak Crawley signed a one-year contract extension with Kent on October 15, 2026, two days after the ECB dropped him from its central contract list for the 2026-27 cycle. He and Luke Wood were the only players to lose contracts on performance grounds.

Crawley has played over 180 matches and scored more than 7,400 runs across formats for Kent. The new deal keeps him at his home county as Kent prepare for Division One of the County Championship in 2027 after earning promotion in 2026.

His final Test appearance came on January 4, 2026, against Australia. He averaged 27.3 across the Ashes series. Losing central contract status means Crawley will now be contracted solely through Kent, though strong county performances could return him to England's frame.

CricHubb Take

Crawley's return to county cricket as his primary employer could either sharpen his red-ball focus or mark the beginning of a permanent shift away from international contention, depending on how quickly he converts domestic form into selection pressure.
