Sai Sudharsan suffers fresh injury scare in Ranji Trophy match against Rajasthan

Sudharsan hobbled off while fielding but batted after treatment, raising fresh fitness doubts days before the New Zealand A tour.

India batter Sai Sudharsan left the field with assistance after injuring himself while fielding on the second day of Tamil Nadu's Ranji Trophy opener against Rajasthan in Jaipur. He returned after the lunch break to open the batting but was dismissed for three.

Sudharsan had only recently returned to competitive cricket after recovering from a toe stress fracture that ruled him out of India's Test series in Sri Lanka earlier this year. He had also missed nearly a month in January with a rib injury sustained during the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

He remains named in the India A squad for the red-ball series in New Zealand that begins on October 24 in Lincoln. The seriousness of the latest concern has not been disclosed.

CricHubb Take

Repeated soft-tissue and bone-stress issues in 2026 complicate Sudharsan's case for a Test spot even if he recovers in time for the New Zealand series.
