IPL 2027 mini-auction set for December 16 in Goa

BCCI confirms December 16 date for IPL 2027 mini-auction in Goa after four years overseas.

The IPL 2027 mini-auction lands in Goa on December 16, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed. It's the first time the auction returns to India in four years after three straight editions in Dubai, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi. The BCCI logistics team pinged franchises on WhatsApp, telling them to get ready at ITC Grand Goa.

All ten teams must lock in their retained and released lists by November 15. The December sale will run smaller than the mega auction staged in Jeddah last November, and it clashes with India's ODI against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru.

The board is also asking franchises for fresh views on the Impact Player rule, which lets teams send a substitute at any point and is scheduled to stay until 2027.

CricHubb Take

Scheduling the auction on the same day as India's ODI against Sri Lanka could force the board to pick which event matters more — the domestic player market or the national team schedule.
