Greaves will miss Wednesday's second ODI after injuring his calf while scoring 101 in the series opener at Thiruvananthapuram.

West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves has been ruled out of the second ODI against India in Guwahati after sustaining a calf injury during his century in the series opener. Cricket West Indies confirmed Greaves picked up the injury while scoring 101 off 108 balls in the 295 for seven total at Thiruvananthapuram.

The 32-year-old opener had formed a 135-run partnership with John Campbell before falling lbw to Kuldeep Yadav. His absence leaves the tourists without their most reliable middle-order contributor in both batting and bowling departments. Greaves is also in doubt for the third ODI in New Chandigarh on October 3.

West Indies trail the three-match series 1-0 and must win both remaining fixtures to claim the series. No replacement has been named, though Jewel Andrew and Sherfane Rutherford are being considered for batting adjustments. The Guwahati match takes place on September 30.

CricHubb Take

Losing Greaves removes the one player who had given West Indies both stability and momentum in the series opener. Without him, the middle order lacks a genuine all-round option, and the bowlers lose a medium-pace contributor who had taken seven wickets in ODIs since 2025. The visitors now face a narrower path to levelling the series.
