The Bangladesh Cricket Board sacked batting coach Mohammad Ashraful after the national team lost consecutive ODI matches to Zimbabwe and Afghanistan in the tri-series in the UAE.

Ashraful confirmed his departure to Cricbuzz and left the team WhatsApp group with the message "Thank You". Mohammad Salahuddin, head coach of the BCB's High Performance Unit, will take over on an interim basis ahead of the home Test series against the West Indies. The board said it is in talks with foreign candidates for a permanent appointment.

Bangladesh were dismissed for 172 chasing 273 against Zimbabwe on 17 October and for 160 against Afghanistan on 21 October. Ashraful had coached the side in eight Tests, including five wins, before the recent batting failures.

CricHubb Take

The dismissal shows the board is willing to act quickly on batting failures even before a home Test series begins, which may tighten internal accountability ahead of the West Indies matches.
