Trent Boult, Kieron Pollard, Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis feature among the big international names on the SA20 Season 5 auction shortlist. The auction will take place on October 7 with 156 players up for grabs after 789 registrations were trimmed. Ninety-five South African players and 61 overseas players will go under the hammer.
Boult and Ali carry a reserve price of ZAR 1.5 million alongside Afghanistan veterans Mohammad Nabi and Fazalhaq Farooqi. West Indies players Kieron Pollard, Shimron Hetmyer and Roston Chase are also listed at the top reserve bracket. Faf du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen headline the South African contingent at ZAR 500,000.
Durban's Super Giants and Paarl Royals have already completed their squads and will not participate in the auction. A maximum of $2.11 million will be spent across the four participating franchises.
CricHubb Take
The presence of established international names at high reserve prices suggests SA20 franchises are prioritising proven T20 performers over raw potential as the competition seeks to maintain its edge against other global T20 leagues.
