Chris Lynn accepted a one-month suspension after testing positive for benzoylecgonine, a cocaine metabolite. The ECB Cricket Regulator imposed the sanction following an out-of-competition sample collected on 18 July 2026. Lynn played for Northamptonshire in the T20 Blast Finals Day on that day.
Lynn admitted to using cocaine on the evening of July 15 into the early hours of July 16 outside competition. He completed a substance abuse treatment programme by August 30. One charge was dropped after the cocaine concentration fell below the WADA threshold. Lynn has not played professional cricket since completing the ban.
Lynn reportedly agreed to join Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming BBL season.
