Bhuvneshwar Kumar joins India squad for fifth West Indies T20I

Bhuvneshwar Kumar replaces injured Arshdeep Singh in India's squad for the series decider.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was added to India's T20I squad for the fifth match against West Indies after Arshdeep Singh suffered a shoulder injury in Hyderabad. The series stands level at 2-2 and concludes at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 17.

Kumar, 36, last played a T20I in November 2022. He earned the recall after claiming 28 wickets for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026. India coach Morne Morkel said a final decision on Arshdeep's availability will be made before the match.

West Indies have posted 247 for three and 252 for four in their two wins. Kumar's experience with the new ball and at the death could alter India's attack on a ground where he has taken 11 wickets in five previous T20 matches.

Kumar's return highlights how India's younger pacers have not yet delivered enough consistency to keep a 36-year-old out of the side.
