CSK in talks with Gareth Batty for batting coach role
Times of India reports CSK are close to appointing Gareth Batty as batting coach under new head coach Zaheer Khan.
Chennai Super Kings are in discussions with former England off-spinner Gareth Batty to join the coaching staff as batting coach, according to a report in the Times of India. The move comes a month after CSK appointed Zaheer Khan as head coach following Stephen Fleming's departure in July. CEO Kasi Viswanathan told the newspaper an announcement is expected within days.
Batty, who played 20 international matches for England, currently coaches Surrey in the County Championship. Under his leadership the club won three consecutive titles before finishing runners-up last season. It remains unclear whether Batty would replace Michael Hussey or work alongside him.
The IPL 2027 mini-auction is scheduled for Goa on December 16, the same day as India's second ODI against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru.
