CricHubb30 Sept 2026

Virat Kohli hit his 55th ODI hundred and passed 15,000 career runs in the format as India beat West Indies by eight wickets in the series opener on Sunday. The 37-year-old scored an unbeaten 139 off 88 balls with 10 fours and nine sixes.

Shubman Gill also scored a century with 110 off 108 balls as India chased down 296 in 41.4 overs. West Indies had posted 295 for 7 with Justin Greaves scoring his maiden ODI ton, but Kuldeep Yadav took 4 for 40 to restrict the visitors.

Kohli reached 15,000 ODI runs in his 303rd innings, faster than Sachin Tendulkar who took 377 innings. The second and third ODIs will be played in Guwahati and Chandigarh.

CricHubb Take

Kohli's post-Test retirement form suggests his decision to focus solely on ODIs has sharpened rather than diminished his impact in the format.
