BCCI confirms VVS Laxman to attend all selection meetings
Devajit Saikia says Laxman will join every meeting to prevent gaps between selectors and the Centre of Excellence.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed on Tuesday that VVS Laxman will attend all future selection meetings. The decision follows a review meeting in Mumbai aimed at reducing miscommunication between the Centre of Excellence and selectors. Laxman serves as head of cricket at the BCCI CoE.
Saikia said the move ensures selectors receive accurate information on player injuries and fitness. He added the decision was not about transparency but about providing complete data for selection calls.
The announcement follows a series of injuries that forced last-minute changes to India's squads. Laxman will not replace the outgoing West Zone selector Ajit Agarkar.

The move effectively gives the CoE a permanent seat at the selection table, shifting power away from the zonal selectors toward a centralised fitness gatekeeper.
