Shreyas Iyer to captain India in last two ODIs against New Zealand
BCCI splits captaincy between Gill and Iyer to balance white-ball leadership with red-ball preparation.
Shubman Gill will lead India in the first three ODIs against New Zealand while Shreyas Iyer takes charge for the final two matches. The BCCI announced the split leadership to manage Gill's workload ahead of the two-Test series that follows with only three rest days between formats. Gill and KL Rahul will travel early to Wellington for dedicated red-ball preparation.
Iyer, already named vice-captain for the first three ODIs, will be supported by Ishan Kishan as vice-captain for the last two matches. Anshul Kamboj earned a call-up for the first three ODIs, while Kumar Kushagra received his maiden call-up for the final two. Jasprit Bumrah will feature only in the Tests.
India's ODI series begins on November 4 in Auckland, with the two Tests scheduled for November 19-23 in Wellington and November 27-December 1 in Christchurch.
