Abhishek Nayar says Shreyas Iyer comparison with Suryakumar Yadav is out of the way
Abhishek Nayar said Shreyas Iyer's away record makes direct comparison with Suryakumar Yadav irrelevant ahead of the New Zealand T20I series.
Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar said comparisons between Shreyas Iyer and predecessor Suryakumar Yadav are out of the way because Iyer has already played far more T20Is away from home. Nayar said winning in New Zealand would earn Iyer the respect of everyone around him. Iyer has captained India in 21 T20Is with 11 wins, eight losses and two no-results. Six of his eight losses have come overseas. Suryakumar recorded 40 wins in 52 matches with a win percentage of 76.92. India begin their five-match T20I series against New Zealand on Thursday in Christchurch.

Nayar's point is that Iyer has already been judged on harder criteria than Suryakumar faced, so the New Zealand series is not a referendum on his captaincy but a chance to add an away series win to the resume.
