The BCCI's Centre of Excellence treated 32 top men's team players for injuries between April 2025 and March 2026 according to the annual report accessed by Times of India. Twenty centrally contracted players and 12 players in the targeted or India A category underwent rehabilitation at the facility. The report showed the CoE budget increased by nearly Rs 35 crore compared to the previous year.

The CoE's projected expenses for 2026-27 stand at Rs 127 crore against Rs 92 crore in actual expenses last year. Most injuries were soft-tissue related with Rishabh Pant the only impact injury case after fracturing his foot during a Test in Manchester in July 2025. Rohit Sharma also underwent rehabilitation for a hamstring injury following IPL 2026 though no official statement was issued.

The BCCI advertised for a new Sports Science Medicine head last month after Nitin Patel resigned in March 2025. Communication gaps exist between the national team's SSM staff and the CoE team with VVS Laxman serving as the only communication channel.

The increased budget allocation reflects growing injury management demands rather than expanded programming. The communication structure through a single intermediary suggests coordination challenges between national and domestic medical setups.
