UP Warriorz spent 2.60 crore at the Kochi auction on October 28 and retained 1.15 crore after filling eight roster spots. The franchise began with a 3.75 crore purse and bought Sophie Molineux for 1.10 crore. Delhi Capitals acquired Kiran Navgire for 75 lakh while Tara Norris moved to Mumbai Indians for 10 lakh.

Twenty-seven roster spots were available at the auction with 20 reserved for Indian players. UP Warriorz released nine players before the sale and retained Sophie Ecclestone. A 15-year-old named Kashvi became the youngest player to enter a WPL squad.

Gujarat Giants coach Michael Klinger expressed satisfaction with his team's purchases. Grace Harris had previously played three seasons with UP Warriorz before the auction.

CricHubb Take

The retention of 1.15 crore gives UP Warriorz flexibility heading into the main auction. The franchise can now target overseas players with the remaining budget while maintaining a balanced squad composition.
